Houndstooth and Antlers

by Lauren Setum

I can hardly believe that Christmas is less than a week away! I could not let the holiday pass me by without doing a New Outfit post to celebrate the season. Whether Pippa liked it or not (emphasis on not), I decided she was going to celebrate, too…as a reindeer…

If you’re looking to sneak in one more holiday activity, consider dressing up your dog in an antler headband. Or, for a non-pet event, I recommend Macy’s Santaland. Macy’s was kind enough to invite me to their media tour of the display a couple weeks ago, and it was a wonderful time. We even got to sample some new menu items from their revamped restaurant, The Oak Grill. Delicious! If you’re like me, shopping makes you hungry, so take a break from Christmas shopping and grab a bit to eat. Happy holidays!

I Feel Pretty, O So Pretty

by Lauren Setum

With nearly a half a foot of snow on the ground here in Minneapolis, it’s officially time for jackets, coats, scarves, and gloves. I have to say that after awhile, it gets somewhat cumbersome putting on all the layers and packing shoes in addition to boots…let’s be real, high heels were not made with snow in mind. By February, I’m usually getting a little lazy when it comes to style and just willing spring to come so I can leave the puffy layers behind. Today’s mood board consists of a few items I love that are stylish AND functional for this chilly time of year. No reason to not feel pretty even if it does feel like we’re in the North Pole!

Wool head wrap from Banana Republic: I’m all for a cute winter hat, but sometimes it’s fun to change it up. I went with a neutral palette today, however, this piece is available in some brighter colorways as well.

The description that accompanies this Sheer Addiction Jewelry necklace is so fitting for today’s post: “For the girl who takes a moment to soak in the beauty of the first snowfall”

Non-toxic nailpolish from Scotch Naturals: I adore this particular color (To Hell With Swords and Garter). Just the right amount of brown mixed with just the right amount of red. Yum. Perfect for some much needed winter manicures.

These long leather gloves from Max Studio have made an appearance on the blog before. Here they are again for an encore. Can’t get enough of the lovely details. Pair them with 3/4 sleeve jackets or dresses. Super chic.

Colorblock cable sweater from Michael Kors at Nordstrom: It received just average reviews online, but I have to say, I’d give it five stars. I just purchased this sweater last night (in fact, I’m wearing it right now!), and it’s even more flattering on than it looks to be online. Available in several other colors, I assure you, you won’t be disappointed!

Winter wedge shoes from Pikolinos: Now these are what I call ‘rustic-chic’. Beautiful details, great lines and a sturdy shoe. Well-worth the investment.

Accessories With Personality

by Lauren Setum

Well, I wasn’t up at the break of dawn for Black Friday shopping a couple days ago, but I am looking forward to Cyber Monday. I’ve been perusing store’s websites in anticipation…apparently I get a little antsy! Not many have the deals they’ll be offering up yet (stay tuned for my picks tomorrow though, I’ll be posting them bright and early). In the meantime, I’m sharing a couple batches of accessories that I found and absolutely LOVE. Loeffler Randall recently introduced some new designs, and they are gorgeous. In fact, they inspired today’s accessory ensembles. Which items do you like best?

Paris in the Fall With Caroline Hayden

by Lauren Setum

Ok, so this post’s title may be slightly misleading, as I’ve never actually been to Paris, much less in the fall. But I hear it’s beautiful, and it is on my list of places to travel someday. In fact, I’m apparently already packing my bags and planning what to wear. When I saw this dress by local Minneapolis designer, Caroline Hayden, at the MN Fashion Week sample sale, I had to have it. There was only one sample, and it fit me perfectly…clearly meant to be, right? I paired it with a beautiful necklace from Sheer Addiction Jewelry, brown suede heeled boots, my mom’s belt (from the 70s?) and a knit cap. Wouldn’t it look great with the Eiffel Tower?!

Stay tuned throughout the week for more on France (and not just from me…from a person who’s actually lived there!).

Classy Camo by KOKOON

by Lauren Setum

There are so many things I love about this wrap dress from KOKOON. This may be cliche, but it really is both comfortable and stylish. You could definitely pack this one in a suitcase and not have to worry about packing an iron, too. That’s always a plus. But my favorite aspect of this dress? The print, to me, is reminiscent of camo without being actual camo. Camo print is definitely a trend you’ll be seeing, and personally, I like it. I paired this twist-on-camo dress with a necklace and cuff bracelet from Sheer Addiction Jewelry and pumps from Charles David…oh, and a cute pup. He wanted to be part of the photo shoot, too!

I had so much fun working with KOKOON on Salt and Pippa’s first new outfit posts this week! They’re a great Minneapolis-based company (I love local!), and I’m so excited to attend their 25th Anniversary Fashion Show this coming Monday at Aria in the North Loop. If you’re in town, be sure to check it out.

by Lauren Setum

Clink-clink, clink-clink…that’s me tapping my glass because I’m going to make a toast; a toast to Salt and Pippa’s very first New Outfit post! I’d like to thank KOKOON (for the lovely apparel they were kind enough to send my way), Fox Way Alpacas (for being my sidekicks during the photo shoot), and, of course, Laura Durenburger-Grunow of Ld Nature Photography (for graciously sharing her knowledge of a camera with me). Cheers to all of you!
