Houndstooth and Antlers

by Lauren Setum

I can hardly believe that Christmas is less than a week away! I could not let the holiday pass me by without doing a New Outfit post to celebrate the season. Whether Pippa liked it or not (emphasis on not), I decided she was going to celebrate, too…as a reindeer…

If you’re looking to sneak in one more holiday activity, consider dressing up your dog in an antler headband. Or, for a non-pet event, I recommend Macy’s Santaland. Macy’s was kind enough to invite me to their media tour of the display a couple weeks ago, and it was a wonderful time. We even got to sample some new menu items from their revamped restaurant, The Oak Grill. Delicious! If you’re like me, shopping makes you hungry, so take a break from Christmas shopping and grab a bit to eat. Happy holidays!

The Thanksgiving Story

by Lauren Setum

Hope everyone had a fantastic Turkey Day!

This year, instead of Christmas cards, I decided to send out Thanksgiving cards. With all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, I liked the idea of taking one ‘to do’ off the list. Sending cards for Turkey Day was a great way to do that. I laid out the card in Microsoft Powerpoint, sent my documents to Printing For Less and presto! A unique holiday greeting. I mailed them out in orange envelopes from Great Papers (available at Office Max stores). A personalized address stamp from Etsy and the project was complete!

Bringing the Outside In

by Lauren Setum

It’s that time of year again…the time of year when Bambi runs and hides! As for the fish, well they’re pretty much a target all year long. Poor Nemo. I’m acknowledging the hunting season here on Salt and Pippa with some tasty…oops, I mean tasteful, paintings from local Twin Cities artists.

I’m not one to mount animal heads and put them on the wall, but I do LOVE this painting by Jill Van Sickle.
