Caroline Hayden’s White Christmas Dress

by Lauren Setum

I purchased the Caroline Hayden dress, pictured below, from a sample sale here in Minneapolis this past fall. There was only one available, and it fit me perfectly! I, of course, featured it in a New Outfit post immediately afterward. Since then, it’s been deemed the ‘White Christmas dress’; its color, full circle skirt and chic silhouette resembles the dress Judy wore during the fake engagement announcement in the movie White Christmas (no fake engagements for me though!)

With six inches of fresh snow on the ground today, it seemed like the perfect day to wear my ‘White Christmas’ dress to work. So here I sit, writing a blog post about my Caroline Hayden outfit and perusing her new spring designs. A lovely balance of classic white and pops of color, don’t you think?

Love to Lounge!

by Lauren Setum

I’m gonna be honest, I bop around the Twin Cities in sweats quite often…especially on winter weekends. I’m sure there are a lot of fashion and design bloggers out there who wouldn’t be caught dead in lounge wear, but I’m not one of them. Sometimes you just can’t beat the relaxed feeling of lounge wear.

Last night, while watching Law & Order (my all time favorite!) and sipping wine (in lounge wear, of course), I decided I should share some of my favorite t-shirt finds with all of you. Also included…a little jacket trick that makes them casual Friday appropriate. Add a pair of jeans and heels, and ta-da! You are stylish.

It’s true. Seriously. Get cheese curds in Wisconsin. If they’re the good kind, they’ll squeak.

This ensemble gets a blue bag because the blue color is so fabulous. Plus, every gorilla needs a bag. What? You didn’t know that? Anyhow, the Zara bag is on super-sale for $20…get it while it lasts!

Perfect Plaids

by Lauren Setum

Classic plaid. It won me over last night when I saw that J Crew was offering 40% off their sale prices. These shoes were calling my name, and I answered. They’re scheduled to be delivered in 3-6 business days!

Snow is on the ground now, but pretty soon April showers will bring May flowers. You’ll be more than ready with this umbrella from Madewell.

J Crew’s Colorblock Shetland wool jacket is stunning (and currently 40% off). If it was still available in my size, I’d probably have added it to my shopping cart last night, too!

This backpack from ASOS is a steal at $30; great for casual weekend errands.

Daydreaming About Spring Fashion

by Lauren Setum

Today’s featured outfit was inspired by the 100% silk blouse by Rebecca Taylor that you see below. I have spring on the brain, and the floral print hints at warmer days ahead. Plus, the grey, purple and burgundy tones make it appropriate for the cooler days that inevitably come before the warmer ones. A pop of Radiant Orchid (Pantone’s Color of the Year!), and you’re ready to roll.

If It’s Meant to Be, They’ll Turn Out

by Lauren Setum

That’s what I told my lovely photographer, Laura, towards the end of this chilly shoot. I don’t think she’s going to use my declaration as a tag line for her business anytime soon, but we both had a good laugh! I was determined to get some snow-filled outdoor pictures with this outfit, even if it meant braving 3 degree temperatures. So out we went, to Northeast Minneapolis, to photograph this red sweater dress (my mom’s from the 80s…I guess some good fashion did come out of that decade, who knew?!). For a similar sweater dress, check out this one from BCBGMAXAZRIA at Nordstrom. The rest of the outfit consists of earrings from J Crew (find similar here), brown suede boots (try these from Nordstrom) and a knit headband from Paper Hat in Minneapolis. I’m happy to say that the photos were meant to be; they definitely turned out…
