Were You Raised In A Barn?!

by Lauren Setum

Well, I wasn’t, but I do hope to be able to say that I live in one someday. That’s right. I want to live in a barn. I’ve always thought it would be great to purchase an old barn or schoolhouse and turn it into a residence. Combining modern elements with a piece of history is my idea of a dream home. I was thinking about this ‘dream home’ a few weeks ago and came across a website called¬†The Barn Pages. It’s filled with everything you need to know about barns…buying, selling, restoring and much more. It’s perfect for people like me; if you can’t find a barn in the exact area you want, simply find one online, have it disassembled and shipped right to you (when I say simply, I mean simply with a grain of salt). Of course, that’s just the first step. You’d want to work with an architect AND interior designer when it comes to restoring it and making it your home. Here are a few barns from the site with a lot of potential…

Since I don’t have before and after pictures of my own dream barn yet, I’ve found a few photos from other projects that showcase what a gem these structures can really be…
